JAMMU, Aug 1: The Durga Nagar Welfare Committee Sector One and Sector Two has urged the Jal Shakti authorities to take immediate steps in restoration of water supply to the area as people are facing many hardships due to acute water scarcity which they are facing for last over a week now.
In a joint meeting held under the chairmanship of Roshan Lal Raina president Welfare Committee Sector One and Sanjay Ganjoo president, Welfare Committee Sector Two, they said that the water supply has been affected for over a week in the area after the local tube well developed a snag. They alleged that the concerned authorities have failed to renovate the tube well and restore the water supply to the area which has compounded the problems of the people in these hot and humid days.
They said despite repeated pleas to authorities they failed to restore the tube well and ensure the water supply to the people and warned that in case the problem was not settled within two days they will be forced to launch agitation.
