JTC holds protest against Govt’s failure in redressing problems

JAMMU, Jan 12: Jagti Tenement Committee led by its president Shadi Lal Pandita and attended by large number of inmates of Jagti Township, held a protest rally against the State Government’s failure in redressing their problems at Jagti, here today.
The protestors raised slogans against the Government for imposing prolonged power curtailment of around 16 hours in the Township. After the protest, the inmates opted for court arrest at Police Post Jagti Nagrota.
Addressing the protestors, Shadi Lal Pandita said that the prolonged power cuts have left the student community in the lurch as they fail to revise their lessons in chilled cold in winter and scorching heat in summer, besides old aged people and infirm also face difficulties in absence of electricity.
Mr Pandita further said that the inmates have meagre sources of income and are not in a position to pay on account of electric charges, adding that the community was forced to flee from the Valley by anti-national elements, so the Government is bound to provide all basic amenities to the migrants till permanent rehabilitation.
Rajinder Dhar, youth president said that the Chief Minister is being misled by some persons with vested interests with regard to settlement of migrant camps.
PL Thusoo and Sunil Raina also spoke on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the protestors also demanded on spot police recruitment drive in Jagti Migrant Camp for absorbing educated youth in police force.
Prominent among others who opted for court arrest were PL Thusoo, Rajinder Dhar, ML Akhoon, Shiban Raina, Sanjay Pandita, S Raina, SL Tickoo, Gopi Nath Shah, ML Pandita, Saroop Nath and others.
