JAMMU, June 19: Jammu State Morcha (JSM) today sought initiatives from the Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in various issues of J&K including Kashmir issue, discrimination against Jammu and Ladakh regions, rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrants in Valley, permanently resolving the issues pertaining to PoJK displaced persons, Chhamb Refugees and West Pakistan refugees.
Addressing a press conference, JSM State president, Prof Virender Gupta expressed confidence that Government of India under the leadership of Modi Ji shall take appropriate steps to provide justice to the Jammu people and take all possible measures to fulfill their aspirations and protect their geographical and cultural identity which is under a severe threat of erosion.
He demanded PM that Jammu and Kashmir State be trifurcated and separate States of Jammu and Kashmir with Ladakh as a Union Territory be formed. Gupta disclosed that a memorandum in this regard has already submitted to the PM.
He said that the three regions of the State, i.e. Jammu, Ladakh and Kashmir have different and distinct cultural, geographical, historical and linguistic identities, adding the reorganization of J&K State is in the national interest as well as in the interest of all the three regions of the State, as it will end inter-regional tensions, allow sound polity to develop on purely economic and welfare issues.
Gupta said that the demand for re-organization of State is not communal but based purely on regional considerations, adding the creation of a separate Jammu State is economically and politically viable.
