JAMMU, Aug 1: Jammu State Morcha (JSM) demanded trifurcation of J&K on regional basis.
Addressing a press conference, Prof Virender Gupta, JSM president, said that this long pending demand of the people of Jammu region and Ladakh region should be considered.
“Carving out Kashmir State, Jammu State and Ladakh as Union Territory is an extremely genuine and viable demand”, he added.
Prof Gupta informed that both Valley and Jammu province have all the possible separate infrastructures needed for the creation of new States. Both have separate Secretariat buildings and other Government offices and there should be no dispute on the location of capital as both are the capitals of present J&K.
There should be no dispute on the river water between Jammu State, Kashmir State and the proposed UT Ladakh. Both Jammu and Valley have economical viability to have status of a separate state, he added.
He said that all the three regions of the State–Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir have their own distinct culture, history and geographical boundaries.
Trifurcation or reorganization of J&K is in the national interest as well as in the interest of all the three regions of the State, he said, adding that the Reorganization of State will go a long way in solving Kashmir imbroglio.
