Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Sept 13:  Jammu Province People Forum has condemned the alleged adamant attitude of State Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu who is  `hell-bent’ to impose service tax on the devotees  performing  religious pilgrimage to  Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine by helicopter from Katra to Sanjhi Chhat besides other religious places, despite opposition, hue and cry  from all religious bodies and others.
Speaking during a meeting,  Pavitar Singh Bhardwaj, Sessions Judge (Rtd),  appealed the Coalition Govt to withdraw the draconian tax failing which the matter is bound to take an alarming situation for which the responsibility shall vest with the Government.
Regarding imposition of Urdu language on the aspirants for the post of Naib Tehsildar by the Service Selection Board, president JPPF quoted the  selection of Indian Services like IAS, IPS, IFS and others and explained that nowhere the knowledge of local  language  was  prescribed for their selection and  rather the selectees are required to acquaint themselves with the local indigenous language within the 2 years of probation period otherwise they are not promoted to the next higher grade.  He  asked the SSRB to follow suit and appoint the candidates of Naib Tehsildar post on the said analogy.
