JAMMU, Nov 11: Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora today took stock of the progress on multi-crore dwelling units for BPL families coming up in Sunjwan and discussed with engineers various facets of the project, costing Rs 20.93 crores.
Accompanied by senior officers and engineers, the Minister discussed the status of various blocks and got first hand information about the progress registered under various components of the constructions. Of the 21 blocks, four have already been completed while the remaining 17 blocks are in different stages of completion. He was informed that 80 to 90 per cent work has been completed on the under-construction blocks.
While emphasising the need for time bound completion of the project, the Minister asked the senior officers to carry out the exercise of identifying beneficiaries, who would be accommodated in the four completed blocks. “While identifying the prospective dwellers, the eligibility criteria should be maintained at all costs”, he emphasised. He also discussed the issue with regard to adjacent Nallah and said that all possible measures should be taken to prevent any damage during the monsoon.
The officers apprised him about the steps being taken in this regard. Mr Jora asked the engineers to expedite the work on under-construction blocks and ensure their completion by March next year.
