Joint teams of LMD, FCS&CA launch market checking

JAMMU, Oct 17: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, joint market checking has been started by Legal Metrology and FCS&CA Departments.
The checking being conducted in view of festivals during which various squads of 21 officials of Asstt. Controller Food, Legal Metrology, A.D FCS&CA are conducting market checking.
The squads conducted extensive checking of areas including Satwari, Karan bagh, Chatha, Nanak Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Channi Himmat, Bishnah, Gangyal, Old City Area, Janipur, Talab Tillo, Roopnagar, Bantalab, Muthi, Akhnoor and other rural areas.
More than 106 traders dealing with sweet shops, hardware stores, dry fruit, electrical dealers dealing in electronic good, gift shops, departmental stores, cement stores, theatres, bakers, hygiene of kitchen, quality of raw materials use of domestic cylinder, quantity of food per serving, charging beyond MRP and lying of services charges were inspected.
Fine of Rs. 1.69 lakh was collected by the teams and 141 Kg of total article were seized besides 160 Kg sweets were destroyed by officers on spot.
