JAMMU, Oct 25: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today sealed two famous sweet shops at Canal Road, here.
JMC in a major drive today sealed “M/s Mahajan Sweet Shop and Namkeen” and “M/s Mahajan Sweet Shop” at Canal Road, which were functioning without the necessary licenses required for such eating houses.
Further, continuing its drive against the menace of adulteration especially in milk and milk products in view of forth coming festival season, a team of JMC comprising Health Officer, Municipal Veterinary Officer alongwith other staff, inspected various milk shops as well as milk vendors in Channi Himmat, Gandhi Nagar, Narwal, Railway Station, Panama Chowk, Jewel, Shastri Nagar and Sanjay Nagar areas.
The team also checked the meat shops and asked the shopkeepers for maintaining the human consumable items in good condition.
Besides 10 Kg of polythene carry bags was also seized and compounding fee of Rs 11,600 was realized from defaulters.
The shopkeepers dealing with food items are strictly warned and directed to ensure supply of good quality of food to the general public especially milk and milk products and obtain necessary license from the JMC.
