JMC seals 3 shops in Gandhi Nagar

JAMMU, Nov 2: Jammu Municipal Corporation today sealed three shops in Gandhi Nagar area, which were being constructed in violation of the building permission by converting the residential premises into commercial.
On the instructions of Commissioner JMC and under the supervision of Joint Commissioner (Administration), the Enforcement staff one shop, being constructed by Prachi Mahajan, wife of Abhishek Mahajan at 784-A, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu and two shops of Ashok Kumar son of Mulkh Raj at 784-A, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
The action was taken under Section 8 (1) of J&K Control of Building Operation Act, 1988 as the said structures were converted from residential to commercial by installing shutters without the permission of Jammu Municipal Corporation and causing nuisance, traffic hazard in the vicinity and much inconvenience to the general public residing in the area who had complained against the same.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation has once again appealed to the general public to refrain from making illegal constructions and get building plans whether commercial / residential approved from Jammu Municipal Corporation otherwise action as admissible under rules leading to demolition / sealing of the building will be taken.
