UDHAMPUR, Nov 2: To spread the legal awareness and to make available the free legal services to the common masses at their door step, District Legal Services Authority Udhampur organized a free Legal Aid Clinic at Basantgarh, here today.
The Free Legal Aid Clinic was inaugurated by M L Manhas, Chairman of the District Legal Service Authority (Principal District & Sessions Judge) Udhampur, in the presence of Sandeep Kour, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Udhampur and Archana Charak, Sub Judge Ramnagar, who is also the Chairperson of the Tehsil Legal Services Committee, Ramnagar.
Besides the president of the Bar Association Ramnagar, the inaugural function was also attended by SDM Basantgarh, Dr Andareas Peter; BMO Basantgarh, Dr Yasir Sheikh; Chairman BDC Basantgarh, Kewal Singh, BDO Basantgarh, Lal Chand; Naib Tehsildar Basantgarh, Ram Lal, Panchs, Sarpanchs and prominent citizens of the area.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman District Legal Services Authority stressed for greater legal awareness among people, particularly in rural area and also about the concept and function of legal aid clinic. He added that the Sarpanchs, Panchs and Para Legal Volunteers are ground level can play a pivotal role in sensitizing the people in this direction and can act as bridge between local people and legal services committee.
He made participants aware about various schemes and acts launched by the Government for the welfare of public and urged people to avail benefits of these schemes.
