JAMMU, Dec 13: In its sustained endeavour to make the city free from encroachments, which impede vehicles and pedestrian movement on roads, lanes and footpaths, Jammu Municipal Corporation today carried out an anti-encroachment drive in Bakshi Nagar and adjoining areas of Jammu city.
Enforcement team of JMC, on instructions of Commissioner Pankaj Magotra and under the overall supervision of Joint Commissioner (A), Ashish Kumar Gupta, headed by Asstt Commissioner (Rev), Prem Singh Chib, forcibly removed two Gensets, which were illegally installed on by lanes and footpaths meant for pedestrian movement in Bakshi Nagar area.
The Gensets installed by Punjab National Bank and Jammu and Kashmir Bank, Bakshi Nagar were causing serious public nuisance besides impede vehicles and pedestrian traffic in the area.
Jammu Municipal Corpor-ation has been repeatedly issuing advisories to all the commercial establishments through public notice in print and electronic media to remove illegal encroachments/ structures from all lane/by lanes and pedestrian ways in Jammu City to maximum Traffic Jam and easing pedestrian movement.
