JMC ranked 2nd in plastic recycle: Mayor

JAMMU, Apr 26: Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Chander Mohan Gupta here today highlighted initiatives taken by the local body to make Jammu a neat, clean and garbage/plastic free city.
In a press conference the Mayor said that JMC has been awarded 2nd prize in terms of Material Recovery Facility after Orissa and this prestigious award will be given to JMC on April 28, 2022 at New Delhi.

He claimed hard work, dedication and collective efforts by all the Councilors and officers/officials of JMC with cooperation of citizens of Jammu for the achievement.
To resolve the major issues which the people of Jammu are facing in this hot weather like poor supply of drinking water, the Mayor said that he personally conducted a numbers of meetings with officers wherein he directed the concerned authorities to release the required funds for repair and other allied works in PHE on urgent basis.
He further said that the concerned XENs were also directed to make the water supply through tankers on daily basis in areas where there is acute shortage of drinking water.
Gupta also said that he along with others visited Shitlee Filtration Plant at Nagrota yesterday to assess water woes and to overcome water crises in Jammu city and directed the concerned Engineers of Jal Shakti Department to take all preventive measures on war footing for improving the better functioning of the plant as well as Boria & Dhountaly Filtration Plant in an effective manner.
