JAMMU, Mar 22: In the ongoing drive against the menace of adulteration in the commonly used food items, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today lifted the samples of food items from various Anganwadi centres of Social Welfare Department.
The teams of various Food Safety Officers along with field staff under the supervision of Dr Mohammad Saleem Khan, Health Officer on the directions of JMC Commissioner Kiran Wattal inspected various Anganwadi centres of Social Welfare Department and checked various food items being served to the children.
The team lifted suji and turmeric power from Anganwadi centre, Roop Nagar, sugar from Anganwadi centre, Karan Nagar, mustard oil and refined oil from Anganwadi Centre, opposite Bahu Plaza, Gandhi Nagar, biscuits and suji from Anganwadi centre, Gandhi Nagar extension and sent the samples to food analyst for analysis under FSS Act 2006.
The incharge Anganwadi centres and stores were instructed to keep their food items and their premises under proper hygienic conditions. They were also directed to prepare the food under healthy and clean environment. Moreover, they were also instructed to keep their utensils neat and clean and place them under proper hygienic conditions.
Meanwhile, Municipal Veterinary Officer along with field staff on the directions of JMC Commissioner Kiran Wattal conducted a special drive in Narwal, Bawe, Gujjar Nagar, Shahidi Chowk, Indira Chowk and Maheshpura areas.
While checking, 15 kilograms of polythene bags was seized on spot and Rs 6000 as fine has been recovered from the defaulters.
