JMC launches ‘Jammu Against Plastic Pollution’ campaign

JAMMU, Sept 11: Jammu Municipal Corporation in collaboration with Directorate of School Education, Jammu, today launched a fortnight long campaign “Jammu Against Plastic Pollution”, during which anti plastic pollution rallies, clearing plastic waste from road sides and households by students/volunteers, who shall be felicitated on October 2.
As a part of this, a big ” My Cloth Bag rally” was taken out from Sri Ranbir Higher Secondary School, Parade, Jammu to Mubarakh Mandi. The rally was flagged off by the Mayor JMC, Chander Mohan Gupta, in presence of Deputy Mayor Advocate Purnima Sharma, Chairpersons of Swachh Bharat Standing Committee Suraj Parkash and Social Justice Standing Committee Jeet Kumar, Councillors Akshay Sharma, Sunita Koul, Jagdish Kumar Sharma and Neena Gupta.
The whole event was organized under the guidance of Commissioner, JMC Pankaj Magotra and closely monitored by Secretary, JMC Sunaina Sharma. Joint Commissioner (Adm), Ashish Kumar Gupta, Joint Commissioner(Works) S Jaspal Singh, Health Officer, JMC Dr Saleem Khan, MVO Dr Zaffar Iqbal , Revenue Officers JMC Ashwani Sudan and Sunil Gupta and JMC Staff remained present during the rally. Deputy CEO, Devinder Singh Manhas and other senior officers/officials of Education Department also participated in the rally.
Rally passed through Parade, Moti Bazaar, Pacca Danga, Chowk Chabutra to Mubarakh Mandi. A large number of students of various Govt, private schools and NGO/ volunteers such as Sri Ranbir Higher Secondary School, Jammu. Govt Girls Hr Sec. School, Qusaba, Jammu, Govt High School Dogra Hall, Govt Girls Hr Sec School, Mubarakh Mandi, May Fair Hr Sec School, Chand Nagar, Govt Girls Hr Sec School, City Chowk, Govt Hari Singh High School, Jammu, Govt High School, Canal Road, Govt Girls Hr Sec School, Rehari, Bakshi Nagar, Julakha Mohalla, Sarwal, Paloura, Bahu Fort, Shastri Nagar Channi Himat, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, NGO/ Volunteers Kewal Krishan Wadera, Prof Bhola Nath Sharma and representatives of Faith Charitable Trust participated in the rally.
At Mubarakh Mandi, a pledge was taken by all the participants “Say No To Plastic”. Thereafter, Dr Zaffar Iqbal, MVO, JMC, gave a practical demonstration regarding Solid Waste Management.
