JAMMU, Feb 14: Jammu Municipal Corporation has vigorously launched a drive against the advertisement displayed illegally in the different areas falling within the limits of JMC.
On the instructions of Avny Lavasa, Commissioner JMC and under the supervision of Ashish Kumar Gupta, Joint Commissioner (A), the field staff led by Secretary Tinna Mahajan launched the drive, which is continuing since last one week.
During the drive, ten numbers of truck loads of illegal advertisement materials have been so far removed, which was erected and displayed unauthorisedly upon public places in violation of Advertisement Policy 2010.
According to Secretary JMC it was noticed that some hoardings, sign boards, posters, banners, bill boards have been displayed and installed on public places/ private buildings within Jammu Municipal limits in total disregard to the rules / laws and in violation of the Advertisement Policy 2010 without seeking any prior permission from the Corporation.
“The installation of such illegal hoardings, sign boards, posters, banners & bill boards deface the property, buildings and walls of the city and are also constant threat to pedestrians and traffic safety. As per the Advertisement Policy, whenever any advertisement is displayed in contravention of section 116 of the J&K Municipal Act 2000, the same is actionable as per provisions of section 119 and 384 of the J&K Municipal Act 2000 with fine which may extent to Rs 5000/- and with a further fine which may extend to Rs 1000/- for every day during which the offence continues,” she added.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation has appealed to the general public to remove all such hoardings, sign boards, posters, banners, bill boards and pole kiosks installed illegally failing which action will be initiated against the offenders and further contravention of the same shall attract penalty against such defaulters.
