JAMMU, Apr 28: In an extensive anti encroachment drive the Enforcement Staff of Jammu Municipal Corporation and Traffic Police Personnel conducted a drive in the areas from Indira Chowk to KC Chowk, part of BC Road and Ranbir Market and cleared the footpaths and pavements from encroachments.
The drive was conducted under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) and Additional Superintendent of Police Traffic along with Enforcement Officer and SHO police station Bus Stand.
During the drive the team removed about 40 hawkers selling their articles by encroaching upon footpaths and pavements and seized about five truck loads of material, which were impounded in the Municipal Yard at Town Hall, Jammu.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation has again appealed the shopkeepers, vendors and hawkers to refrain from making encroachments and keep their goods / articles within their shops / establishments to avoid seizure of these goods and penalty for such defaults as the encroachments are a source of obstructions which hamper the free movement of vehicular traffic leading to traffic jams and also causing inconvenience to the pedestrians.
