JAMMU, Feb 18: Earth Day Network India conferred Earth Day Network Star Municipal Leadership Award to Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC).
A handout stated that this recognizes JMC’s establishing a Material Recovery Facility for the processing and disposal of single-use plastic.
Prabhjot Sodhi from Centre for Environment Education presented the award to Chander Mohan Gupta, JMC Mayor.
Deputy Mayor, Advocate Purnima Sharma; Commissioner JMC, Avny Lavasa; Secretary JMC, Atul Kumar; Chairman Standing Committee Health & Sanitation, Rajkumar; Chairman Standing Committee SBM, Hardeep Mankotia; Chairman Standing Committee Social Justice, Ajay Gupta; Deputy Vice President HDFC Bank, Abhishek and Sanjeev Arora, RUDA along with other officials of JMC and CEE were also presented in the event.
The Mayor while commenting on partnership with Earth Day Network, CEE, HDFC Bank, UNDP and RUDA talked on how Prabhjot Sodhi and team joined hands with JMC to shine in SBM and sanitation in increasing their ranking of the city.
He informed that Jammu as a city has moved from 373 to 169 in 2 years and with every-ones support soon it will come in the first 10 cities.
Prabhjot Sodhi and Karuna Singh talked on remarkable work that JMC has done in last one year.
