VIJAYPUR, Feb 18: Rajesh Pargotra, Provincial President of JKNPP has demanded abolition of the Custodian Department in J&K UT.
While addressing a press conference, here today, Pargotra demanded that the proprietary rights to both the local and non local allottees be given and the Custodian Department be abolished and control and supervision of such property be given J&K UT to the Revenue Department to avoid any kind of misgivings.
The immovable property of the persons, who migrated to Pakistan in 1947, has been kept under the direct control and supervision of the Custodian Department. Later on the same property was allotted to the local residents and the residents who migrated from PoK into Jammu and Kashmir in commensuration. The non local residents were allowed to construct their residential houses on such allotted property and also they were allowed cultivation whereas the local residents were allowed only cultivation and they were not allowed to construct their residential houses.
Pargotra said that after the lapse of 75 years, such a legislation has become redundant and meaningless.
Pargotra also said that the Jammu and Kashmir Government had decided and promised with all the refugees that one time settlement of their issues would be done and they will be paid an amount of Rs 25 to 30 lakh. However, he added, these refugees were paid only an installment of Rs 5 lakh and the remaining amount of Rs 20 to 25 lakh is pending while the process of registration of such cases has been stopped, which is a matter of much concern and grave anxiety.
Others who participated in the press conference, included Khajur Singh, Capt Karam Chand Sharma and Sat Pal.
