JKYF expends Rs 2.56 cr on welfare initiatives

SRINAGAR, Apr 8: The Jammu and Kashmir Yateem Foundation (JKYF) has allocated approximately Rs 2.56 crores towards a range of educational, welfare and rehabilitation initiatives throughout the last fiscal year, benefiting numerous underprivileged families.
A spokesperson for JKYF, revealed that based on un-audited accounts, an expenditure totaling Rs 2.56 crore was directed across more than a dozen educational, welfare, empowerment, and rehabilitation projects. “Under the BAITUL HILAL (Orphanage) program, over Rs 75 lakh was allocated, benefiting more than 140 impoverished orphaned children, covering their boarding, lodging, schooling, healthcare, and ancillary expenses,” the spokesperson said.
Similarly, over Rs 73 lakh was disbursed under the Widow Welfare Programme (WWP), supporting approximately 1,100 widow-led households. “An additional Rs 33 lakh was dedicated to the Poor Welfare Programme (PWP), with over Rs 16 lakh designated for the Marriage Assistance Programme,” he said.
More than Rs 5 lakh was allocated to the Higher Education Scholarship Programme (HESP) and Educational Assistance for Girls (EAG). Additionally, JKYF operates the Al HILAL Diagnostic Centre in the Aaveran Karan Nagar area of Srinagar on a non-profit basis. 56 000 patients received assistance at the SMHS Hospital pantries operated by JKYF,” he said.
Quoting Chairman Mohammad Ahsan Rather, the spokesperson reiterated the commitment of JKYF to sustaining its welfare, rehabilitation, and empowerment efforts for various deserving segments of society.
