JAMMU, June 26: The Jammu and Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) today submitted a memorandum to Divisional Commissioner Jammu for the Union Government.
The members of the Committee also criticized the visiting Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for maintaining silence over the issues of the Displaced persons of 1947, 65 and 71. They regretted that Prime Minister has not even made a mention of the DPs during his speech at Kishtwar or Kashmir.
A delegation of SAC led by Gurdeep Singh, Ronik Sharma, Daler Singh and others which submitted a memorandum has demanded  that issues of the DPs should be settled once for all.  They said  Union Government must invite applications from all the DP families without the conditions as were kept in 1960 for ex-gratia grant, giving details of their properties/ buildings left behind in PoK. They demanded special concessions for the wards of the DPs in every field including jobs, trade and educational institutions.
It was also stressed that DPs be given adequate  compensation  and reservation be provided to the youth of  the DPs in every field especially in the recruitment process.  Since no monthly relief amount has been given to the people of these categories they should be provided one time adequate compensation. Many other demands were projected in the memorandum by the SAC members.
