KATHUA, Nov 15: The Jammu and Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee Kathua unit members held protest demonstration demanding implementation of Joint Parliamentary Committee report with regard to Rs 30 lakh relief to each DP family.
The members of the DP families under the leadership of Bhushan Sharma, president of the Kathua unit, assembled in the town here in the main market and held protest demonstration. They were demanding implementation of JPC report. They said that Rs 5.5 lakh relief package was not acceptable to them. It may be considered as installment of the main package. Moreover, other demands regarding reservation of Assembly seats, quota in professional colleges/ jobs to the children of the DP families have not been included in the package.
They said that from time to time, they projected their issues before the higher authorities and recently they had also met the BB Vyas, Advisor to Governor but their issues could not be resolved. They said that delay is being caused to implement Rs 5.5 lakh package the process of disbursement should be expedited. Later, they dispersed.
