JAMMU, June 30: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) today urged Chairperson Delimitation Commission, Justice Ranjna Prakash Desia to constitute two separate Assembly constituencies for Displace Persons (DPs) of 1947 from POK out of seven increased seats for time being till the Section-63 of Reorganisation Act is reviewed and amended.
The leaders of the Committee raised this demand during the meeting which was held today at Tohana Tibba village of RS Pura.
Gurdev Singh, president of the Committee said that the Commission was set up to re-demarcate the existing constituencies of J&K to give proper representation to all the sections of society and in this regards, the Commission has completed the data collecting process to carve out new constituencies on the basis of 2011 census but unfortunately no feedback has been taken from the DPs so far.
The DPs pinned high hope on the Commission which is all set to meet the people at gross root level as per the Government’s advisory to seek their suggestions for the overall representation of people.
The Commission is all powerful and can carve out easily two constituencies for DPs in view of having their large population in Gandhi Nagar, RS Pura and Suchetgarh constituencies,” Gurdev Singh asserted, adding that the DPs are the most suffering section of the society and their legitimate grievances with regard to their adequate rehabilitation have always been denied and ignored.
Later, a 21 members committee was constituted, headed by Bagwan Singh as president while Choudhary Suram Singh Chib was declared as general secretary of the committee. The newly framed committee would work at grass root level to strengthen the organization as well as to aware the DPs about their basic issues.
Dayal Singh Lambardar, Tarsem Singh, Joginder Lal, Master Sant Ram, Pawan Kumar, Kuldeep Singh, Jasbir Singh and many other were present during the meeting.
