JAMMU, Nov 25: A 21-member delegation of Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC), comprising members from all the districts of Jammu region led by its president Gurdev Singh called upon Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and expressed its  resentment for failing to project the legitimate one time settlement issue of DP’s of 1947 from PoK in the right perspective till today despite the issue being kept in the Agenda of Alliance of Coalition Govt.
While presenting his views regarding all the problems of the DP’s pertaining to both State and Central Govt, the Chief Minister was apprised that to sanction a relief of Rs 5.5 lakh after a lapse of seven decades under the instant package is a cruel joke with DPs as it is in no way match with the material and the physical loss they have suffered for none of their fault, yet this package has acknowledged the legitimacy of their issues. The Govt has been approached many times to come out with clarification regarding this package whether this amount is an installment or final one-time settlement as the order issued regarding the package speaks.
Singh urged upon the Chief Minister to review the whole process of package and fresh proposal may be recommended taking into account the recommendations of Joint Parliamentary Committee on Home Affairs. The reservation facilities be also extended for the DPs both in State and Central Govt Services/ Technical Institutions on the analogy of Kashmiri migrants.
While expressing his views regarding the disbursement of instant package her attention was drawn towards the many bonafide DP families residing in the State have not being included in this package. She was apprised that families who have been allotted land after migration in 1954 and later on have not been included in the instant relief package because of non-availability of the records required under guidelines issued by Govt for filing the cases. There are families who were left out for one reason or another for availing benefits of land allotment of ex-gratia grant have also been excluded.
There are many DP’s whose parents were killed in turmoil and their minor surviving members were not eligible at the time of allotment of land or for availing benefits of ex-gratia grant have also been excluded. He urged upon the CM that justice be done to such families and directions be issued to the concerned authorities to allow them to avail the benefit of this relief package.
