JKSAC delegation submits memo to Modi, Mehbooba

JAMMU, Jan 11: A delegation of J&K Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) led by its secretary general, RK Sharma, today submitted a memorandum of demands to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti through Divisional Commiss-ioner Jammu, Pawan Kotwal.
The main demands included in the memorandum were clarification of present Rs 2000 crore development/financial package for Displaced Persons (DPs) of Pak occupied Kashmir (PoK), permanent rehabilitation of PoK DPs, grant of one time settlement, political reservation of 5 Assembly seats on permanent basis, 5% reservation for educated youth of PoK DPs in Government jobs and free education for youth of PoK DPs up to University level.
The demands also highlighted in the memorandum include one-time compensation of Rs 50 lakh to each family for losses suffered in moveable and immovable properties, grant of compensation as per prevailing rates for land deficiencies and extending individual propriety rights over the properties under possession of each displaced PoK family residing in 46 regularized colonies with rights of individual mutations of their respective properties.
Besides, the demands like implementation of Wadva Committee recommendations and extending all constitutional rights to DPs of PoK residing out of J&K state also figured in the memorandum. The delegation requested the Divisional Commissioner to get a notification published by the Government for disbursement of the package assistance to the PoK DPs.
The Divisional Commiss-ioner gave a patient hearing to the delegation and assured to project their demands with Government of J&K as well as Central Government.
