Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Apr 24:   A five-member delegation of Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) led by Gurdev Singh, its president, called on Dr Jitendra Singh, MoS in PMO in his office chamber in Union Capital today and apprised him about the latest status of disbursement of PM package of Rs 2000 crore which is going at a snails pace and other related problems being faced by DPs in this regard.
The delegation expressed its  gratitude to the Prime Minister,  Narendra Modi, for taking cognizance of their legitimate issue by providing a relief package on one hand but on other hand he was also apprised that the DPs are more confused regarding the nature and shape of the package announced without any roadmap which is lacking many components. The delegation stressed upon Dr  Singh to apprised PM regarding the difficulties and problems and was also requested to stress upon the State Govt  to draft a proposal for comprehensive relief package for DPs taking into account the recent JPC report.
While apprising him in detail about various other issues concerning one time settlement of DP’s,  Gurdev Singh conveyed him the resentment of DPs’ regarding the inordinate delay being made in making disbursement and direct cash transfer in DP’s account. He was told that even after lapse of complete one year period, hardly 7000 beneficiaries of 1947 from PoK have received the cash relief despite of the fact that approx. 17,000 DP families have been verified for cash relief benefit.
While expressing regret, he strongly castigated the Central Administration responsible for causing delay in DBT because of the failure of the biometric system/ faulty system of disbursement. He was conveyed that it has created frustration among DP’s and there are about 3000 families who could not get the relief because of this faulty system from the last one year and are taking rounds of PRO/ Divisional Commissioner office to enquire about the reason for being ignored for payment.
Dr Singh was further apprised that Rs 5.5 lakh to each DP family is a very small amount which in no way match to the loss of lives and properties they have suffered yet the DP’s have accepted this amount at your and Raj Nath Singh’s assurances given at many occasions on behalf of  Prime Minister. The DP’s are looking forward and they are hopeful that they would get justice at the hands of  Prime Minister, Narendra  Modi.
Dr Singh listened very patiently and assured the delegation that the Government is seized of all the legitimate issues of DP’s and further assured that State Govt. would be shortly asked to prepare a comprehensive road map to resolve the issues. He also assured that  a team of officers of MHA concerning disbursement of package would be send to Jammu shortly to steam line the disbursement process.
