HC closes petition on burning of schools

Srinagar, Apr 24: High Court has closed the PIL regarding burning of schools in 2016 unrest with the observation that Government has taken steps for safety of the schools.
The Division Bench of Acting Chief Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar and Justice Tashi Rabstan today closed the PIL which was taken as Suomoto by the Court immediately after incidents of burning of schools took place in 2016 unrest.
The Division Bench said pursuant to various Court orders, the State Government has taken steps on various angles based on direction of the
Court and as also stated by the State counsel that the school authorities are monitoring safety and security of the schools through Department of School Education.
“In view of the present situation, no further order or direction is required at the present, before closing this PIL we would like to emphasize and reiterate that the directions of this court passed on November 7, 2106, contained in para 9,10 and 11 should be strictly followed”, DB directed.
