JKP ASI killed in Gangyal accident

JAMMU, May 31: An Additional Sub-Inspector (ASI) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police was killed and another commuter was injured when a speeding car struck their two-wheelers in the Gangyal Pulli area this evening.
The deceased officer has been identified as 50-year-old Karamjit Singh, a resident of Satwari.
According to officials, Singh was riding his motorcycle on his way home when the rashly driven car hit him. The vehicle also collided with a scooty being ridden by one Rajesh Kumar, who sustained injuries in the crash.
Both victims were immediately rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu for medical care, officials said, adding that tragically, ASI Singh succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Police have arrested the driver of the car, whose identity was not known immediately.
However, an official First Information Report (FIR) had not been registered by the press time.
