UDHAMPUR, Oct 11: Appealing the people at large to maintain communal harmony and peace in the wake of recent tension in district Udhampur, Jammu Kashmir National Panthers Party took out a Peace Rally in the town, under the leadership of JKNPP president for former MLA, Balwant Singh Mankotia.
A large number of people from Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Christian community assembled at Adarsh Colony Udhampur and marched towards the DC Office via Slathia Chowk Udhampur amid raising slogans of communal harmony.
While addressing the gathering Mr Mankotia blamed the State Government for allowing Er Rasheed (MLA) to organize sacrilegious and law defying ‘beef party’ in the MLA Hostel Srinagar due to which the communal tension gripped entire Jammu province, including district Udhampur in particular. He said that by facilitating such communal disorder, the State Government had not only divided people of the State in the name of religion but also diverted their attention from the core issues of sanctioning AIIMS to Jammu, Smart City for Jammu and regularization of NYC, SPOs, daily wagers of PHE, Agriculture, R&B Department etc.
Mr Mankotia lamented that the recently concluded State Assembly, instead of discussing important public matters on basic civic amenities like electricity, water supply, construction of roads and health care, had turned into a “fighting arena” which only witnessed unnecessary ruckus causing disruption of the business proceedings. He further maintained that instead of lodging FIR against the felon MLA who openly violated the RPC Sec. 298 A,B,C,D by organizing beef party in the Government premises of MLA hostel in Srinagar, the Government, had booked several youth of Udhampur in false cases causing harassment to them.
Mr Mankotia appealed to the people of Udhampur district as well as J&K State to maintain communal harmony and brotherhood at all costs. He cautioned the people to stay away from the nefarious designs of anti-national forces and anti-social elements who are hell bent to impede national progress and communal amity all across the country.
