NEW DELHI, Sept 8: Intensifying the momentum for ensuring the rights and justice to Jammu (Talwara) migrants, Panthers Party held a strong protest demonstration at Jantar Mantar, here today.
The protest  was  spearheaded by chairman of JKNPP, Harshdev Singh, State president-JKNPP Balwant Singh Mankotia and State president of Young Panthers, Yashpaul Kundal, who  along with the party activists, raised slogans for justice to Jammu migrants.
While addressing the gathering, Harshdev Singh said that despite SC direction to the State Government to pay all the arrears amounting to Rs 21 crores to the Talwara migrants and provide relief to them at par with the Kashmiri migrants, not even a penny has been paid to them so far. In fact, they have been ignored, forgotten and discriminated by the Central and the State Governments,” he alleged.
Harshdev Singh pointed out that besides relief, the Central & the State Govts released special package for Kashmir Migrants for their rehabilitation in Kashmir valley but on the contrary the Jammu migrants were ignored once again with the Governments of India and J&K State refusing even to provide them financial assistance to rebuild their houses which were destroyed by terrorists from 1998 to 2002,” he lamented.
Later, a delegation led by Harshdev Singh, submitted a detailed memorandum to the Union Minister for Home, Rajnath Singh for seeking immediate relief and compensation for Talwara Migrants at par with Kashmir Migrants. Besides, Balwant Singh Mankotia along with party activists, took out a march towards the Parliament but they were stopped by the Delhi Police from proceeding further.  Mankotia and six  Panthers Party leaders were arrested and detained in the Parliament Street Police Station.
