JAMMU, Nov 15: Expressing faith in the leadership of Mufti Mohd Sayeed, Jammu and Kashmir Lubana Welfare Sabha (JKLWS) today announced support to People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming State Assembly elections
Addressing a press conference here today, senior leader of JKLWS, Santokh Singh, Deputy Commandant (retd), said the Lubanas having a population of over four lakhs and spread in many constituencies of Jammu province particularly border areas of Suchetgarh, RS Pura, Bishnah, Akhnoor, Samba, Kathua, Nowshera, Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi, has regularly been ignored by the all the ruling parties for last more than six decades.
Singh said that the community is educationally backward due to lack of basic facilities and low educational standard in rural areas, due to which they are unable to compete with other people and hence has negligible representation in various Government departments. Although a meager quota has been reserved for OSC by the State Government but the Lubana community has not been benefitted by any way in getting the Government jobs, he added.
He said though Lubana community has a good number of electorates in more than 12 Assembly constituencies and is a deciding factor for the results thereof, but no political party has ever given the mandate to any of the candidate of the community except false assurance at the time of elections which has never been fulfilled by the political parties including the ruling National Conference, Congress, BJP and others.
Singh said Lubana community has unanimously decided to support the PDP in the upcoming State elections as we have faith in the leadership of Mufti Mohd Sayeed and high hopes for redressal of genuine grievances of the community.
