He said that Jammu Kashmir Government Pharmacist Association time to time submitted memorandum and request letters to concerned authorities to implement Central Pharmacy Act 1948 but nobody paid heed to their requests.
On the demand put forth by Jammu Chamber of Commerce & Industry (JCCI) to save medicine outlets and registration/renewal of licenses, Sudan said that JKGPA doesn’t want anyone to become jobless but health of the people is paramount important.
Alleged that some vested interest in Drugs & Food Organization of J&K are provoking chemists who got certificates on experience basis by ignoring the technical qualifications, he requested the higher authorities to investigate the matter by a committee.
The JKGPA president appealed the LG to implement Central Pharmacy Act 1948 in toto as early as possible to save the public health and to check mis-utilization of habit forming drug by youth.
Jarnail Singh (working president, JKGPA), Kamal Jit Sawhney (general secretary), R P Singh (spokesperson) and Bharat Bhushan Bhagat (district president) were also present in the press conference.
