JKFFA pays tributes to martyrs

JAMMU, Dec 19: Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Fighters Association (JKFFA) paid floral tributes to Army personnel who sacrificed their lives for the sake of nation while on duty today.
Association also remembered Shaheed Ashfaq Ullah Khan, a martyr who worked along with Netaji Subash Chander Bose and a colleague of late Madan Mohan Malvia, in a function held on his 89th Death Anniversary at Dogra Shaurya Sthamb, Amphalla, here.
The programme was organised under the chairmanship of JKFFA President Ved Gandotra.
The Indian soldiers were martyred while militants attacked on their convoy at Pampore in Srinagar yesterday.
“We the people of Jammu and Kashmir salute them for their bravery as they fought with strong will and for the cause of our nation,” Gandotra said.
Speakers expressed their anguish over the cowardly act of Pak sponsored militant groups.
A two-minute silence was also observed in the memory of all those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of nation.
Paying tributes to Ashfaq Ullah Khan, the members highlighted his life history who in a small span of life served the country. He was born in 1900 and was hanged by the British in 1927.
The members appealed to the people to shun love for money and struggle for maintaining integrity and sovereignty of the nation.
They also asked Government officers and the corrupt leaders to shun corrupt practices and follow the path shown by the martyrs and work for the welfare of the masses and contribute towards prosperity of the motherland.
Prominent persons present on the occasion included Rajiv Mahajan (State president Shri Ram Sena), Pritam Sharma (State president Kranti Dal), Sham Lal Bhagat, Raj Rattan Raina, Rajinder Singh, Raj Kumar Tyagi, Brij Mehra, Parshant Kapahi, Binny Mahajan, Sagar Sharma, Dr Randeep Singh Parihar, S Shiv Rattan Singh.
