JKEEGA urges Govt to release salaries of TLMD-III employees

JAMMU, Aug 12: An urgent meeting of the Jammu & Kashmir Electrical Engineering Graduates Association (JKEEGA) held here today under the chairmanship of president Er Harvrinder Singh, to discuss the issues pertaining to the employees of TLMD-III, Udhampur.
The meet lamented that the administration was sleeping on this issue since November’2017 and no concrete step has been taken to get the CD account of TLMD Udhampur division revoked, which is ceased since last about ten months by the court in case of KEC International Vs State PDD with the result that salaries of the employees of whole division are withheld for none of their fault.
Even the payments to the contractors could not be released due to seizure of the CD account of this division and as such they have refused to take up any works in future. During this period, two towers of 220 KV KPTL transmission line got collapsed with the result power supply to the whole district of Ramban and part of Kashmir valley was affected. In order to restore the power supply, the employees were left with no other option but to erect the two towers by persuading the contractors on personal requests as the contractors had already refused to work till their previous liabilities are cleared, the meet observed.
The JKEEGA stressed that in the prevailing scenario, where no contractor is ready to take up any assignment, the responsibility of any breakdown of the power system will purely lie on the administration and no officer/official of TLMD Udhampur Division shall be held responsible as the issue and situation have been communicated to the higher authority several times.
“In view of the above facts, the Association, through this medium would again like to appeal to the administration to work out a tangible solution in this matter at an earliest, so that, at least the salaries of the employees are released. The employees of this Division are facing severe financial crisis and now their families are getting affected, some of them are not able to pay school fees of their children, some are not able to bear medical expenses of their parents, etc for none of their fault and they have been left with no option but to protest on roads,” the meet observed.
