JAMMU, May 20: J&K College Teachers’ Association (JKCTA), Jammu wing, demanded the authorities of Higher Education Department to adequately compensate the teachers, whose vacations are being curtailed in view of examination duty.
The issue came up for discussion in a meeting of the association held here today under the chairmanship of its Jammu wing president, Dr Sanjay Verma.
It was decided in the meeting that since the summer vacations of the college teachers are being curtailed because of the examination of BSc/BA/BCom/BBA/BCA 2nd Semester for the Session of 2014-15, they should be properly compensated.
The association stipulated that for those teachers who are detained on examination duty during summer vacations and who surrender or forego the remuneration prescribed and admissible for such assignment, the period of their vacation thereof in lieu should be counted for earned leave, as is permissible under J&K Civil Services Leave Rule 1979.
Later, a deputation of the association took up the matter with Dr Satinder Singh, the Nodal Principal, GGM Science College and submitted a representation in this regard addressed to the Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education Department, to him.
