JKCCTU supports call for protests from Aug 9

JAMMU, Aug 7: Jammu and Kashmir Coordination Committee of Trade Unions (JKCCTU) has expressed its serious concern and dismay over the Government’s recent onslaught on the working class on the pretext of COVID pandemic situation, which has created havoc on the livelihood of the people, especially the working class.
In a joint statement, Md Maqbool, President and Gurmeet Singh, General Secretary of JKCCTU, said that the freezing of DA of Govt employees including pensioners, amendments in Labour Laws, privatization of key Public Sector Undertakings especially the Power sector in J&K, attack on democratic and trade union rights, job cuts in Government and PSUs and delaying in regularization of temporary workers and sky rocketing prices had caused large scale resentment among the working class people.
Expressing solidarity with the working class, the JKCCTU extended active support to the nationwide action program of joint platform of central trade unions, including the employees’ federations especially the AISGEF, starting from 9th August 2020. The JKCCTU appealed the working class to organize protests though out the Union Territory and force the ruling class to change anti people and anti working class policies.
