JKBWA urges CM for continuance of reservation in promotion

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Feb 9: The Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association in its general body meeting held under chairmanship of Subedar Major (retd) Romesh Sargotra deliberated on the vital reservation in promotion issue.
He said that the SC/ST people of the State have not fully developed and as such, the judgement of the High Court of J&K that abolished benefits of reservation in promotions, would deprive these people to rise up and come at par with the evolved products of the society.
Former MLA and Association president Sat Pal Lakhotra urged the State Chief Minister to authorize implementation of the Supreme Court’s ‘Interim Order’ dated March 18, 2016 which reads as this: The operation of the impugned order passed by the High Court shall remain stayed. This order, however, shall not prevent the High Court from considering eligible candidates for promotion to the next higher post provided any vacancies for such consideration are available.
