JKBOSE organizes UT-level competition

JAMMU, Dec 6: A UT level Red Ribbon Quiz competition was organized by the Academic Division of J&K Board of School Education (JKBOSE) in collaboration with J&K Aids Control Society in which 50 schools from each district participated and out of them 12 teams in total were referred by various districts to JKBOSE after school level and district level competitions.
These teams underwent a screening test out of which six teams were selected for final quiz competition which was held in six rounds covering various aspects of the theme and each team comprised of two students. The top four teams were given cash prizes, mementos and certificates.
Team-A from Govt. Hr. Secondary School Sallan Kathua was adjudged as the first and was awarded cash prize of Rs. 10000, Team-B from Govt. High School Rarian, Samba got second cash prize of Rs. 8000 and team-C from Little Angels Hr. Secondary School Kathua got third cash prize of Rs. 6000 whereas, team-E from Govt. Hr. Secondary Paloura was given consolation cash prize of Rs. 4000.
Speaking on the occasion the chief guest, Prof. Parakshit Singh Manhas, Chairman JKBOSE said: “This event was an effective and efficient step not only towards creating awareness on crucial topics but also for training the youth to be pro-active in testing their knowledge through such activities which build confidence and boost their personality.”
Manisha Sarin, Secretary, JKBOSE was guest of honour and Director Academics, Prof. (Dr). Sudhir Singh who is also the UT Project Director of the Scheme expressed his satisfaction over this maiden event to create awareness on HIV.
Madan Lal, Dy. Director Finance, JKSACS also spoke on the occasion while Dr. Yasir Hamid Sirwal, Dy. Director, JKBOSE & UT Project Coordinator of the Scheme presented the welcome address.
Chander Kumar, Academic Officer, JKBOSE, JD presented vote of thanks.
