JK vaccinates highest ever 1.78 lakh people in a day

JAMMU/SRINAGAR/ LEH, Oct 4: Jammu and Kashmir today achieved a milestone of vaccinating highest ever 1.78 lakh people in a day while 100 persons–78 in Kashmir and 22 in Jammu tested positive and the Union Territory of Ladakh reported 10 new cases, all in Leh district.
“Highest ever vaccination in J&K UT today. 1.78 lakh doses administered,” a tweet by the Office of LG J&K said this evening.
It congratulated the Health workers, doctors and Deputy Commissioners for their tireless efforts in vaccination of the people.
“Stay masked, get vaccinated, stay safe,” the tweet further said.
Meanwhile, Chief Education Officer (CEO) Poonch today ordered closure of the school after seven students were tested positive for COVID-19 in Higher Secondary School Lassana.
An order said that as reported by Principal HSS Lassana, seven students of the school were tested positive for COVID-19 during the Rapid Antigen Testing today.
“Accordingly as a precautionary measure, the school shall remain closed for five days from Oct 5 to 9 and the Principal HSS Lassana will ensure the sensitization of the premises including all class rooms, Labs, office etc. in consultation with BMO Surankote,” read an order.
It further read that, the COVID Positive students shall be asked for home isolation as per the protocol of COVID-19 and their parents shall be informed accordingly for strict adherence of Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB).
All the staff members/students of the school shall also follow the COVID-19 guidelines in letter and spirit and get themselves tested for COVID-19.
Furthermore, all the Principals, ZEOs and Headmasters are also directed to ensure the adherence of COVID-19 SOPs and guidelines issued from time to time, in respect of institutions falling under their control, read the order.
Meanwhile, among 22 fresh COVID positive cases reported in the Jammu region, 10 were registered in Jammu district, four Doda, three Reasi, two each in Ramban and Rajouri districts and one in Kishtwar district.
Udhampur, Kathua and Samba districts didn’t report any fresh COVID cases today.
Twenty seven persons today recovered from the virus.
Corona count in the Jammu region has gone up to 1,23,911. Of them, 1,21,473 have recovered from the virus while there have been 264 active positive cases and 2174 casualties.
The fatalities include1144 in Jammu district, 237 Rajouri, 151 Kathua, 137 Udhampur, 133 Doda. 120 Samba, 98 Poonch, 67 Ramban, 44 Kishtwar and 43 in Reasi district.
All 10 COVID positive cases in the Union Territory of Ladakh were reported from Leh district.
Ladakh’s Corona cases stood at 20822. Of them, 20563 have been treated and there were 52 active positives—47 in Leh and five in Kargil besides 207 casualties including 149 in Leh and 58 in Kargil.
Meanwhile, Kashmir today reported 78 fresh cases of COVID-19.
Those who tested positive include 44 from Srinagar, 2 from Baramulla, 6 from Budgam, 5 from Pulwama, 3 from Kupwara, 2 from Anantnag, 5 from Bandipora, 9 from Ganderbal, 1 from Kulgam and 1 from Shopian.
The number of cases in Kashmir division has reached 205,978 including 202,835 recoveries and 2,250 deaths.
The number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1,157 including 893 from Kashmir division.
With 144 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached 324,308 which is 98.31 percent of the total cases.
