JAMMU, Nov 18: As per instructed by the Chairman J&K Chapter IIISLA Ravi Dhar and KB Manchanda from New Delhi, J&K Surveyors and Loss Assessors staged protest here against the exposure draft issued by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India ( IRDA).
While speaking, Rajesh Gupta said that it has been country wide protest on November 18, 19 and 20 against IRDA. “All surveyors joined camera down strike which started from today and will conclude on November 20 to support the protestors at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi”, he added.
He further said that private companies are allotting survey work to non-technical persons, which is very harmful.
Sudarshan Choudhary on behalf of all Independent Surveyors and Loss Assessors urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and help in withdrawing the draft issued by IRDA regarding appointment and deployment of self employed surveyors by private insurance companies.
“The idea seems to have been mooted by the IRDA under pressure from Private Insurance Companies. This is a dangerous step and is against the interest of consumers”, he said, adding that hall mark of independent surveyors is their expertise in carrying out independent and unbiased investigation for the larger justice to the consumers, organization and society. A locally and privately deployed surveyor will do what his employers wants and not what is justified. There is a conspiracy behind this new draft seeking date bound compliance”, Choudhary stated.
The Surveyors who were present during the protest are Alok Mahajan, Sanjay Tagotra, Satpal Goel, Kher Singh, SL Gupta, Rajesh Sharma, Satish Sharma, Roopak Sohi, NK Tagotra, Charanjeet Singh, GS Modi, AP Sangra, Rahul Khajuria, Manish Sawhney, Vikas Tagotra, Goutam Gandotra, etc.
