J&K Sikh Council condemns killing of Sikh leader in Pak

JAMMU, Apr 28:  While condemning the  killing of  a Sikh leader in Pakistan, J&K Sikh Council today urged  upon the Govt of India  and United Nations to exert pressure on the Pakistani Govt to hold fair probe into the killing of the minority community leader.
Addressing a joint press conference Harmohinder Singh, president of the Council along with other members strongly condemned the killing of  prominent  Sikh leader  from Tariq -e-Insaf  and former president of Pakistan Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, S Suran Singh by some unidentified gunmen at Khebar Pakhtoon (Pakistan).   It was later told by the Pak agencies that he was killed by rival political activists.
The Sikh Council  leader alleged that Sikhs are being tortured as world conspiracy  and world  community should take cognizance of the matter. It is not only Pakistan, the Sikhs are being targetted in US, Europe  and other  countries as well.  “The community in J&K strongly condemns this incident and demands an impartial probe by the credible agencies of the country, ” he added.
The Sikh Council leader further urged upon the Govt of India and also to the United Nations to hold a probe into the matter so that people responsible for the murder of Sikh leader are brought to justice. Govt of India must exert pressure on Pak High Commissioner to take cognizance of the matter.
Meanwhile, the J&K Sikh Council further urged upon the PDP-BJP Coalition Govt to provide representation to the Sikh community in State Cabinet, SSRB, PSC , Judiciary  and other Boards.
Representatives from several other organizations also joined  and expressed their concern. They included Sant Khushal Singh Charitable Trust, Sikh Naujwan Sabha, Sikh Awareness Society and others.
