JAMMU, Aug 7: JK Pradesh Congress has said that Jammu and Kashmir has been reduced to the level of a Municipal body, as UT is a powerless entity with no separate identity and blamed BJP of betraying the people of Jammu again depriving it of its existing statehood against the promise of separate statehood.
Reacting to the situation after the unjustified re-organistion of the State following abrogation of Art 370 , JKPCC Chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said that State has been reduced to the level of UT which is a powerless entity with no identity. The State has been reduced to a level that is no better than a Municipal Body which is most unfortunate, he added.
He said that Jammu has been converted to UT status along with Kashmir whereas people of Jammu were promised a separate statehood by BJP. The state which was once established by Dogra rulers under Maharaja Gulab Singh has lost its identity and status, he stated.
He feared that Jammu region has once again suffered the most in the new arrangement which is being felt by all people of reasoning and the general public will soon realise. The BJP had already betrayed the faith and mandate of Jammu by sharing power at the cost of broader interests of the people of the state especially Jammu region as it compromised over the rights of people and youth of Jammu for remaining in power.
“Now again the arbitrary and undemocratic step has further push the state especially Jammu region to the situation of deprivation and worst suffering”, he added.
