JAMMU, June 7: The Jammu and Kashmir Police, in a swift action, have saved the life of a passenger who slipped from a moving train near the Udhampur district.
Commandant 24 JKAP IR, Senior Superintendent of Police, Sandeep Mehta in a statement today said that prompt police action saved precious life of man after a fall from running train.
“The prompt and timely action of the Police Personnel of 24 JKAP IR Bn deployed on guard duties at the railway track saved a life of a man who accidentally fell down in a tunnel from a moving train near Ramnagar in Udhampur district,” he said.
He added that a passenger namely Anurag Choudhary of Delhi, who was travelling in Swaraj Express from Katra towards Jammu, when reached Katheel fell from the train in Tunnel 19-U.
“The Sentry on duty, Constable Shabir Ahmad, who was standing gaurd, immediately responded to the situation and shifted the injured passenger, who was bleeding, to gaurd post wherein he was provided immediate first aid,” said the SSP.
The matter was immediately brought to the notice Police Post GRP Ramnagar and the injured passenger was later shifted to the Government Medical College Udhampur for further treatment.
“The condition of the injured is stable and he is responding well to the treatment. Timely intervention, swift action and close coordination saved a precious life,” SSP Mehta added.
