JAMMU, Nov 8: Bari Brahmana Industries Assoc-iation has alleged industrial sector in the State is badly suffering for want of ‘ease of doing business’.
In a meeting of the Association held here today under the chairmanship of its president Lalit Mahajan, in presence of Rahul Bansal senior vice president, Varun Singla vice president, Ajay Langer general secretary and other members, the Association discussed the matter with regard to the failure of various Govt Departments related to Industrial Sector in the implementation of ‘ease of doing business concept due to which State has been ranked at 29th position in comparison to neighboring States like Haryana at 6th rank, Punjab at 12 rank & HP at 14th rank.
While appreciating the efforts of Industries Minister Chander Parkash to introduce the ease of doing business concept for Industrial sector, members raised serious concern about the non-issuance of guidelines/procedures by various Departments in respect of Self Certification Mechanism for Toll Tax exemption and other related matters as per the Industrial Policy of 2016.
In respect of Power Development Department, it has failed to adopt this concept for the sanction of power connections as it takes months to clear the power connections due to procedural delays
Further, the Labour Department has also not yet adopted the Ease of Doing concept in respect of delegation of powers to factory inspectors for the renewal license for five years and online filing of all the returns related to the Industrial sector to abolish the ‘Inspector Raj’.
The BBIA urged upon the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti to take up the matter with the concerned ministers to implement the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ in their respective departments to improve the ranking of the State.
