SRINAGAR, Nov 17: Lambasting Jammu and Kashmir Government for its failure to ensure smooth electricity supply in Kashmir Valley, Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP’s) Kashmir province president, Ghulam Mustafa said that tall claims of Government for improvement in power sector have fused with the onset of Winter and a recent hike in power tariff is another blow on the face of people.
In a press statement, Ghulam Mustafa said that Kashmir PDCL has issued a fresh curtailment schedule for Valley in which areas having metres will be put to curtailment for four hours whereas non metered areas will be put to eight hours of curtailment and this eight hours of curtailment will be scheduled in nature and unscheduled curtailment could also be there and this shows that people in Kashmir Valley will be facing tough time in days to come.
“Government used to claim that 24 hour electricity will be provided to all the metered areas but this claim has fallen flat and the fresh curtailment schedule itself exposes the claim.” said Mustafa.
He further mentioned about a recent hike in power tariff made by the Department in Kashmir is another blow on the face the people who were expecting some improvement in power sector as promised and claimed by the Government.
“On one hand people will get electricity for a reduced time period and on other hand bills will get swelled and this double blow will badly affect life of every common man in Kashmir Valley.” Mustafa said.
He further mentioned about a recent appeal made by hoteliers in Kashmir to provide basic facilities for promoting Winter tourism in the Valley and said that this curtailment will badly affect the idea of promoting Winter tourism.
Mustafa further mentioned about AAP’s success on power sector front and said that Aam Aadmi Party has provided uninterrupted electricity in a proper manner to the people in Delhi and now in Punjab.
“In Jammu and Kashmir, power sector will witness improvement in a real sense when AAP Government will be in office and uninterrupted electricity will be provided to the people that too in a people friendly tariff.” Mustafa added.
