Secy reviews increase in MBBS, PG seats in J&K Med Colleges

JAMMU, Nov 17: Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Bhupinder Kumar, today reviewed implementation of Centrally Sponsored Scheme for increase in MBBS and PG seats in Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by Principal Government Medical College, Jammu and Srinagar, Director Medical Colleges J&K, Director Finance H&ME, Joint Director Planning, H&ME and other senior officers of the department.
Director Medical Colleges presented a brief account about the MBBS and PG seats increased in Medical Colleges, their status of implementation and focus of Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in early completion of projects and submission of Utilization Certificates.
Principal GMC, Srinagar, informed that the works related to increase in 30 MBBS seats are in progress while for 19 PG seats the funds shall be released by the Union Ministry after the MoU is signed and submitted.
Similarly, Principal GMC Jammu gave a brief about implementation of projects related to increase in 50 MBBS seats besides informing that the DPR for 25 additional PG seats stands submitted to the Ministry.
Secretary gave directions for early completion of the ongoing works in both the colleges for MBBS and PG seats.
He asked the Principal GMC Srinagar to ensure submission of MoU besides directing the Principal Medical College Jammu for sending DPR to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Secretary also asked the Principals GMC Jammu and Srinagar to explore possibility of getting additional PG seats in their respective colleges.
