J&K emerging as golfers destination: Omar

Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah going away prizes to the participants of Greater Kashmir Golf Tournament on Sunday.

SRINAGAR, Oct 14 :  Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah said that Jammu and Kashmir is emerging as one of the promising golfers destination adding that golf courses located at different locations in the State provide varied climatic and geographical conditions to the golfers.
Giving away prizes to the participants of Greater Kashmir Golf Tournament here this evening, Chief Minister said that holding of such events are significantly important to showcase State’s wonderful golf courses and attract golfers from all over the world.
The three day tournament was organized in collaboration with the Tourism Department and Mushtaq Group of Hotels at Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Srinagar.
Omar Abdullah said that upgradation of Jammu Golf Course and development of Golf Course at Leh would add further glamour for golfers to visit the State and play golf at different locations.
He praised the organizers for organizing the event and expressed the hope that more such events would be permanent feature in the golf calendar in the State.
The 3-day tournament was played at Pahalgam on 12th of October, at Gulmarg on 13th and it concluded on 14th of October at Srinagar. As many as 100 golfers participated in the tournament. Of these, 50 golfers were from various parts of the Country.
Minister of State for Tourism, Nasir Aslam Wani, Political Advisor to the Chief Minister, Divinder Singh Rana, Chairman, Greater Kashmir Group of Publications, Fayaz Ahmed Kaloo and Director Tourism, Kashmir were also present on the occasion.
