JAMMU, May 1: Presentation of a colourful cultural programme, honouring of prominent personalities, and release of a special book dedicated to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi marked the celebration of the Foundation Day of the Nanaji Deshmukh Library and Documentation Department by BJP at the party Headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, here, today.
J&K BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP, Sat Sharma, accompanied by BJP J&K general secretary (Org) Ashok Koul, Rajya Sabha MP, Gulam Ali Khatana, Mahant Rameshwar Das Maharaj, BJP J&K general secretary, Sanjita Dogra and convener of the Nanaji Deshmukh Library and Documentation Department, Kulbhushan Mahotra, were present on the occasion.
Jagannath Kunj Bihari, national organizing secretary of Bharat Bharti, Randheer Raipuria, Sameer Khajuria, Salathia brothers, Ravi Raghuvanshi, OP Sharma, Mangal Pangotra, and several others, were honoured on the occasion.
The cultural segment of the programme featured performances by Salathia brothers, Ravi Raghuvanshi, Sumit Khajuria, and Randhir Raipuria, while Vijay Gupta recited a touching poem depicting the inspiring life and contribution of Nanaji Deshmukh.
On the occasion, the dignitaries also released a book titled “One India – Supreme India (Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat)” dedicated to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. The book highlights the Prime Minister’s efforts to connect every region of the country through culture, heritage, and national integration.
Sat Sharma, while addressing the gathering, said that the Nanaji Deshmukh Library established in the BJP Headquarters premises has emerged as one of the finest and best-maintained libraries among all BJP libraries across the country. He said that the library is not meant only for BJP activists, but is open for every citizen, especially students, scholars, and aspirants preparing for competitive examinations. He appreciated the efforts of Kulbhushan Mohtra in establishing and developing the library, stating that setting up such a well-equipped facility was a challenging task.
Ashok Koul said that the library has become a valuable centre for intellectual and academic activities during the last some years. He said that many research scholars have completed their research work with the help of the books and documents available in the library. He emphasized that the library possesses rich and quality material catering to diverse subjects, which has greatly benefitted researchers and readers.
Kulbhushan Mahotra informed that around 3,000 books are presently available on the shelves of the library, while nearly 10,000 books and documents have been added to the e-library section, including several rare and old documents of historical significance. Sharing his personal contribution, he stated that he has authored 12 books while serving as Library in charge. He also expressed gratitude to the party leadership for their encouragement and support in strengthening the library infrastructure and expanding its reach among the people.
MP Gulam Ali Khatana and party general secretary, Sanjita Dogra also spoke on the occasion.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by district general secretary, Divya Jain, while the vote of thanks was presented by J&K BJP secretary, Arun Sharma.
