SRINAGAR, Sept 29: A meeting of the JK Artists Association was convened here today which was chaired by its president Tariq Javaid. Almost all members from Kashmir except a few attended this meeting. Another part of the meeting was held in Jammu in which Jammu based artists participated which was presided over by Kusum Dhar. These meetings were organised in the back drop of worsening economic conditions of artist community due to the indifferent attitude of Doordarshan Srinagar, Jammu, Radio Kashmir Srinagar ,Jammu, J&K Information Department, J&K Tourism Department and sick film policy of the Government which has created chaos and confusion among artist fraternity.
All these Government units have been requested to shun the path of anti artists policy which has rendered thousands of artists, freelance producers, directors and writers of the UT jobless for more than a decade. “We appeal to Doordarshan authorities to release backlog which is in doldrums since 2010 and revive in house serials and plays to engage the community to earn their livelihood”.
“We hope that all departments concerned will take remedial measures for betterment of the artist community and upholding the deteriorating programming of Door Darshan which has badly hit the image of Door Darshan in fiction category.
