JAMMU, Oct 10: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu, in collaboration with J&K State Council for Science & Technology, Govt of J&K, is going to organize 5th J&K Agriculture Science Congress on the theme “Climate Change Management for Sustainable Agriculture, Livestock Farming and Ecological Development” from October 14.

This was informed by Dr J P Sharma, Director Research SKUAST-Jammu and organizing secretary of the scheduled Science Congress, while addressing press conference, here today.
He further informed that this three-day event will be held at Main Campus Chatha of SKUAST-J from14th to 16th October, 2019 where experts from the field of agriculture, veterinary and ecological sciences will chair technical sessions. Dr Sharma said that the Science Congress will generate a road map for State regarding various recommendations & strategies for agriculture & veterinary sciences.
Dr Vikas Sharma, Chairman Press and Media Committee, informed that more than 400 distinguished scientists and policy makers are expected to participate in the said event in which lead lectures will be delivered by eminent speakers of the country in their respective fields of specialization. He added that the Congress aims to serve as a platform for evolving a holistic consensus on future strategies for giving direction to agricultural research to increase production and productivity.
Dr Vivek M Arya, Co-Chairman Press and Media Committee, elaborated few of thematic areas of the Science Congress viz: climate resilience & associated challenges, sustainable live stock farming in era of climate change, protected cultivation & vertical farming and natural resource management to mitigate climate change. He said that farmers and scientists interactions and exhibition of latest agro-technology will be part of Science Congress. The press conference was also attended by other members of media committee namely Dr Rajeev Bharat, Dr Narinder Panotra and Ajay Sharma.
