JAMMU, Feb 14: Government Degree College Jindrah organized a music gala `Respect the Girls’ in the college premises, to convey the message that girls deserve the respect and honour by all in the society.
Various artists in the musical bonanza enthralled the audience., who included students of Degree College Jindrah and Government Higher Secondary School Jindrah, besides prominent citizens of the area . An orchestra band from Jammu, comprising of professional singers as well as amateur student artist performed on the occasion and spread the message through their songs and music.
The programme commenced with Saraswati Vandana, which was followed by formal welcome address by Principal of the college Dr Nutan K Resutra, who said that girls are not only equal but in many fields, have been performing better than the boys. Citing statistics, he said about eighty percent women suffer in domestic violence which must not only be condemned but also checked in all possible manner. This message to respect the girls must be spread among all sections of society so that a girl child also enjoys equal respect and dignity in society and this is possible only when people change their outlook toward girls in the society, he added.
Principal of the Government HSS Jindrah, Sunil Nanda, presided over the function and also spoke on the occasion.
Prof K K Mangotra, Prof S Paramjeet, Dr Sunil Sharma, Mukesh, Sushil, Shanu Pandita, Vijeeta Anand, .Shafiqa Bano along with the staff and many prominent citizens of the area were present on the occasion.
